The New Hampshire Public Defenders Office is the only source of free legal assistance for criminal matters in New Hampshire.

The Lawyer Referral Service of the New Hampshire Bar Association operates a full fee and a reduced fee referral service which refers eligible clients to attorneys who have enrolled in the program. Clients must be able to pay for representation; both programs have financial guidelines. Application for these programs is made directly.
